Our coastal vineyards thrive in the sandy soil and ocean breezes.

Coming off Knotts Island Bay and only one and a half miles from the Atlantic Ocean.

Vinifera vineyards total eight acres plus three acres of muscadines. Our oldest vineyards date from 1987... more were planted in 1992 and 1995-96.

The vines are trained to a low bilateral cordon with vertical shoot positioning on a seven wire trellis. Spurs are well spaced and exposed.

Vineyard practices are geared to maximizing fruit exposure to the sun and wind. These include balanced pruning, shoot thinning and positioning thru the catch wires, and green harvest, and leaf pulling around bunches. Grapes are hand-picked and graded in the vineyard with tight quality control. Whites are chilled before crushing and processed cold during fermentations and ageing in toasted oak barrells. Reds are fermented 5-6 days and aged in mostly American Oak.

New wines this year include Stawberry, a dessert wine and Viognier, a white French variety from the Northern Rhone Valley of France.
